Silicon Valley Clean Cities Accomplishments

  • Since becoming a member of the National Clean Cities program, the Silicon Valley Clean Cities Coalition (formerly South Bay Clean Cities) members have worked together to make outstanding accomplishments, including:
  • Five Department of Energy Advancing the Choice Workshops, which educate about alternative fuels and their applications, case studies, legislation and regulations, fuel safety, training, and funding opportunities.
  • Working with the San José International Airport staff to implement a CNG refueling station for the 17 new CNG shuttle buses that the airport has received. The airport's CNG fueling station had its grand opening in August 2003.
  • The City of San Jose has developed a Clean-Fuel Vehicle purchase incentive program, which offers free parking to qualified hybrid vehicles in all downtown parking garages to encourage emission reduction, stimulate the downtown economy and increase the sales of Clean-Fuel vehicles at San José auto dealers.
